Inanna, the goddess who ruled the world.

Hello everyone,

Mera here.

My next workshop will be a small group celebrating Inanna.

I am fascinated by the myths of traveling to the underworld, and returning. Only Hermes (Mercury) was known to be able to travel freely from the earthly realm to Hades territories. The underworld is a place of deep darkness, murky mystery, and the possibility of great wealth. Yet, it seems that Inanna may have preceded Mercury. She comes from a different culture where the feminine was worshiped.

Myths of traveling to the underworld and returning are about transformations and rebirths. Inanna is called the Lady of Myriad Orders. The areas of human concern that she stands for are: order, fertility, grains, love, war, heaven and earth, healing, and emotion and embodied, playful, passionately erotic feminine, the powerful, independent, self-willed feminine! the ambitious, regal, many-sided feminine”

She challenges the later myths of the patriarchy. Some scholars think that Inanna’s garden is the one that Lilith went to when she left Eden. I’ll be letting you know when it will take place. It’s 50 minutes and I would love to stay on up another 40 minutes to take frames and explore how people experienced the ceremonial and ritual aspects of our celebration.

More to come….
